Abstract
To evaluate the effect of the tooth ash alto-graft in periodontal osseous defects, tooth ash was prepared with extracted tooth under the burning procedure at 950¡É, Tea dogs were given with 7^(§®) depth and 5 x 3^(§®) width of surgical defect at the mesial side of upper 1st and 2nd premolars. And then tooth ash, Periograf(Look-waite Inc., N.Y.) were grafted in the alveolar bone defect.
The results were as follows ;
1. Clinically there were not any abnormal healing processes in all of the grafted sites.
2. Inflammatory cells disappeared at the first week after surgery. in the control group but were observed at the 4th weeks in the tooth ash group.
3. Osteoblastic activities were persisted for 4th weeks in the tooth ash group.
4. The foreignbody reaction was observed at early experimental periods in the periograf and tooth ash groups.
5. The regenerative effects of alveolar bone in the periograf and tooth ash groups were more prominent than them of the control group. These results were suggested that tooth ash could be. a useful graft materials on tfie alveolar bone defect.
